Monday is Memorial Day. For some of us, that means a long weekend; for some, it’s the beginning of a week-long vacation. For others, it’s a time of remembrance.
It’s a funny holiday, actually: we simultaneously celebrate the onset of summer, and mourn those who died for our country.
That may seem like a contradiction, but I think it’s important to celebrate life and freedom — and let’s face it, after this long stormy season, we all need some celebration. Maybe we can also share our joy with military veterans, who’ve weathered a different kind of storm.
